Assistant Surveyor

About this role


  • Providing primary support to the Senior Surveyor.
  • Develop technical knowledge – to assist in project planning for ALL Trades
  • To improve and encourage communication/feedback between all commercial departments
  • Managing the Operative Wage Process – Identifying anomalies and resolving accordingly
  • Assisting in the pricing of Variation Sheets – Inserting set rates onto variation sheets, scanning, and filing
  • Assisting in the preparation of Variation Summaries – Data input onto Excel, transferring information included within variation sheets onto Excel summaries
  • Assisting in the pricing of lump sum variations and the production of Applications for Payments
  • Scanning, filing, and arranging documents for the Surveyors

Key skills:

  • Quantity surveying experience within a construction environment and a good knowledge of construction materials, their properties, and uses
  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • A team player and a problem solver
  • Good standard of education (most likely to degree level)
  • High level of numeracy and good reasoning skills
  • MS Office (excel, word, outlook, and access)
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written skills
  • Experience in internal drylining, screeding, suspended ceilings, lightweight steel framing, insulated render systems, render systems, rain-screen cladding systems, and curtain walling, windows & doors, and other miscellaneous trades
  • A good knowledge of appropriate regulations and Health & Safety legislation
  • Ability to source information and keep up to date with new technologies
  • A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace
  • Excels at operating in a fast pace, construction environment
  • Ability to look at situations from several points of view
  • Persuasive with details and facts/self-motivated and able to take delegated authority
  • Adhering to companies’ ethics, culture, and code of conduct
