Financial Controller

About this role

The Role

As a senior member of the Management Team, you will be reporting to the Finance Director and consulting with the London office. You will assist with providing and managing effective and efficient accounting, budgeting, and monitoring, of systems with respect to the accurate reporting of the business.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage, motivate, and develop the team
  • Undertake regular checks on systems for the identification, billing, accounting and recovery of income.
  • Revenue reconciliation, Cash & Credit Card Reconciliation, Sales Ledger, Purchase Ledger and Revenue Auditing
  • Report on any adverse findings and improvements required.
  • Prepare, and supervise the production of, Revenue Accounts, Trading Accounts, and Balance Sheets in accordance with agreed accounting practices and timescales
  • Provide accurate and timely advice to the senior management team, ensuring that advice is based on up-to-date knowledge of the relevant legislation, financial regulations and professional requirements
  • Promote compliance with professional standards and the Financial Framework within the company ensuring the business meets its financial responsibilities.
  • Monitor the financial management systems, processes and procedures operated by the department, evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the operation
  • Checking incoming and outgoing payments for accuracy
  • Compiling reports on sales, expenditure, marketing and other accounting activity for senior management.
  • Help with the production of detailed monthly management accounts
  • Represent the Finance Department at board meetings as required, liaise with other departments and external agencies as necessary, and provide timely and accurate financial information and advice

Person Specification

  • Driven, enthusiastic and professional
  • A track-record of producing financial information for management
  • At the very minimum, must hold a Level 2 Foundation Certificate in Accounting accredited by the Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT) or a Foundations in Accountancy accredited by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Positive “can do” attitude.
  • Have strong analytical skills
  • Experience in mentoring and supervising staff
  • Prioritise work effectively.
  • Work to strict deadlines.
  • Strong operational planning with excellent communication skills
